Tachograph downloads every 28 days for the vehicle unit, 90 days for driver cards. EU 561/2006 (retained) and Smart Tachograph 2 still apply. Saphyroo pulls files remotely over 3G/4G, scores infringements and holds 12 months of records formatted for DVSA review. No chip reader. No USB run. No missed deadlines.
Tested on UK routes. Built to last.

28/90-day download cycle

Vehicle unit every 28 days, driver card every 90 days. Saphyroo automates every pull and flags misses.

Remote 3G/4G download

Pulls driver card and vehicle unit files over the air. No depot visit, no cable, no stopped lorry.

Infringement scoring

Scores every EU 561/2006 breach against driver history. Transport managers see severity, not raw data.

DVSA audit retention

Tachograph data retained for 12 months in UK data centres. Audit-pack exports available for your compliance team.
Less admin. Fewer fines.

Tachograph compliance without the paperwork

Saphyroo pulls tachograph data off the vehicle unit and driver card automatically. It scores infringements, stores records for DVSA and keeps your O-licence clean. Transport managers get the full picture on one screen.
Drivers and transport managers

Built for drivers. Ready for transport managers.

Drivers use the app on the road. Transport managers run the console. Tachograph files move between them without a USB cable or a depot visit. One platform. One dataset. No re-keying.

EU 561/2006 hours tracking

Tracks 4.5h driving, 9h daily driving, 11h daily rest and weekly limits live against the driver card.

Driver card and vehicle unit

Drivers slot the card, Saphyroo reads the events and pushes them to the console in minutes.

Break and shift alerts

Alerts fire at 4.5h driving, before the 9h daily limit and before daily or weekly rest is short.

GPS-verified events

Every tachograph event is tagged with location and timestamp. DVSA asks, you show them the map.

Offline mode

Works on the M6, in a lay-by, through a tunnel. Data queues on the device and syncs on 4G return.

Secure event logging

Tachograph-card pairing and tamper detection keep every log court-ready. Nothing can be rewritten.

Fleet-wide tachograph view

Transport managers see every driver, every lorry, every hours-of-work status in one dashboard in real time.

Automatic remote download

Vehicle unit files pulled every 28 days, driver cards every 90. Saphyroo queues, downloads, archives.

Infringements and exceptions

Live alerts flag 561/2006 breaches, missed rest, daily and weekly limit risks and card events gone wrong.

Reporting for DVSA review

Build reports for Traffic Commissioner packs, OCRS evidence and internal driver reviews. Export to PDF or CSV.

Open API and TMS feeds

Pushes tachograph and fatigue data into your TMS, payroll and HR stack through a documented REST API.

Driver behaviour signals

Pair tachograph data with telematics to see who drives long, rests short and risks 561/2006 breaches most.
Confidence and assurance

Tachograph compliance, done quietly

Saphyroo tracks driver hours against EU 561/2006 and Working Time Regulations automatically. Breaches are scored, not buried. Transport managers close them before DVSA asks. supports your O-licence record-keeping, your drivers stay legal, your data stays in UK data centres.

Tachograph-backed fatigue alerts

Fewer infringements, safer drivers

Saphyroo reads the tachograph in real time. Drivers get a warning before the 4.5-hour cut-off, before the 9-hour daily driving limit, before daily rest runs short. Transport managers see the same picture from the office. No one is surprised by an infringement at the end of the week.

Paper tacho charts, gone.

Analogue charts are slow. USB downloads at the depot take hours. Saphyroo pulls every vehicle unit and every driver card over the air. Infringements are scored the moment the file arrives. Twelve months of records formatted for DVSA review, ready when you need them.

FAQs

We Have Answers

A digital tachograph is the in-cab recorder fitted to HGVs and relevant vans. It logs driving, other work, availability and rest in line with EU 561/2006 (retained in UK law post-Brexit) and, on vehicles from 21 August 2024, Smart Tachograph 2.

Yes. UK-registered HGVs over 3.5 tonnes used in scope of drivers' hours rules must run a type-approved digital tachograph. From August 2024, newly registered vehicles must use Smart Tachograph 2 with GNSS, DSRC remote comms and border-crossing logging.

Saphyroo handles the 28-day vehicle unit download and 90-day driver card download automatically over 3G/4G. Infringements against EU 561/2006 are scored as the file arrives, so transport managers close them before DVSA does.

Drivers do not download the tachograph file on a phone, that still runs from the vehicle unit and the driver card. The Saphyroo driver app shows hours used, rest remaining and any infringements on the same data, live.

Transport managers get live tachograph data for every driver and lorry, scored infringements, download due dates, OCRS evidence and a full 12-month history, all in one UK-hosted console.

The vehicle unit keeps recording whether or not the SIM has signal. Files queue on the unit and the driver card. Saphyroo downloads the queue over the air the moment the lorry hits 3G or 4G again.

You still keep printouts and analogue charts where the law requires, but the tachograph download itself replaces most USB runs and paperwork. Saphyroo stores 12 months of digital records in UK data centres.

Yes. Digital tachograph files are DVSA-aligned evidence of drivers' hours. Saphyroo exports the raw file and a scored infringement report, so you can answer a DVSA request or a Traffic Commissioner query without a depot hunt.

The tachograph tracks driving, other work, availability and rest against EU 561/2006. Pair it with Drive360 and the dashcam and you see harsh braking, speeding and distraction alongside the hours-of-work picture.

Any UK operator running HGVs in scope of drivers' hours rules: general haulage, tanker, tipper, skip, waste, supermarket, construction logistics, palletised freight, food and beverage and cross-border Europe.

Digital tachographs cut the time transport managers spend chasing downloads, score infringements the same day and give DVSA or a Traffic Commissioner a clean audit trail. Paper charts cannot do any of that.

Yes. Saphyroo is the platform, not an add-on. Tachograph downloads, infringement scoring, 12-month retention, OCRS evidence, TMS push and payroll export all sit in the same console.
